City, N.D. — Authorities say a man died from a single vehicle crash south of Valley City.

The Highway Patrol identified the crash victim as 34-year-old Joseph Hejtmanek of Valley City. The patrol says the vehicle went into a ditch along Country road 21 hit an embankment near the Sheyenne Circle subdivision and vaulted over that approach and landed into the west side ditch.

Barnes Sheriff Randy McClaflin says fire and rescue crews had to extricate the man’s partially ejected body out of the vehicle Thursday morning.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation with the Highway Patrol.
