N.D. – The Fraternal Order of Police lodge number 4 in Jamestown has endorsed the elimination of the city administrator position in Valley City.

Lodge President Tom Nagel says the position has dragged the reputation of the organization and its members down during a dispute between the police chief and the city.

He says we’re endorsing the movement to protect our members in Valley City who are not getting a fair deal. Nagel says some members have been bullied since the investigation into Police Chief Ross began earlier this year.

Vote “Yes” chairman Brian Mindt says the local F-O-P endorsement and donation of $3,000 will be used in the effort to campaign to eliminate the city administrator position in Valley City. His group says the position is unnecessary and expensive.

Another group in favor of keeping the position says it’s a vital arm of the city government to help run daily operations more smoothly.

Valley City residents vote on October 4 whether to keep or eliminate the city administrator position.
