City, N.D. –  Mayor Bob Werkhoven says the claim that the city administrator position is to expensive for the city is false when you compare the cost of how the city combined two previous positions in the past to save money.

He says the position has saved city taxpayers $47,000 after a previous city commission consolidated two positions into one. Werkhoven says back then the Public Works Director and the Public Works Business manager made a combined salary of $122,000 compared to the current city administrator salary of $75,000.

Werkhoven says the city administrator handles the work of both positions.

City residents will vote on October 4 to eliminate or keep the city administrator position in a citywide vote.
