Jamestown, N.D…Record amounts of water have flowed in and out of Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs this year, and the draw down will continue for at least another six weeks.

Jamestown Reservoir  is releasing 1400 cfs, with an inflow of 300 cfs, Pipestem is releasing 1000 cfs, with an inflow of 315 cfs. The combined release of 2400 cfs is expected to be in place until mid-October, followed by a gradual reduction, as the remainder of flood storage is evacuated.

The combined release will remain unchanged, but the releases from each reservoir may be adjusted to balance the reservoir storage. No gate changes are planned. With average precipitation, all of the flood control storage in the reservoirs will be evacuated by early to mid-November. Evacuation of flood control storage could take longer if high rainfall occurs.

The reservoir pool levels are dropping at a rate of 0.6 feet per day at Pipestem, and 0.25 feet per day at Jamestown Reservoir.
