N.D.- The Oakes Fire Department responded to a Friday afternoon grass fire five miles west and four miles north of Oakes.

Oakes Fire Chief Jerry Hollingsworth said crews from Oakes and LaMoure were called around 5 p.m. Friday to the scene. Hollingsworth said less than 10 acres of grass and part of a tree belt were burned, and the fire was the result of a previous controlled burn from a few weeks ago that started up in the high winds and very dry conditions on Friday afternoon.

No injuries were reported and there was no damage to any property…
