N.D. – Members from 2 Lutheran Churches in Valley City drove to Minot to help with demolition work on family homes as the road to recovery continues for residents in the Magic City due to flooding from the Mouse River earlier this year.

David Iversen is the director of the Minot State University library, he and his wife Pastor Heather Browne own a home in Minot that had more than 2 feet of water on the main floor. He says the support his family has received has been incredible.

Church members from Valley City’s Trinity Lutheran including their Pastor Dan Forsberg said working to help others get back into their home is rewarding.

Church members from Faith Lutheran in Valley City along with their Pastor Jolene Knutson-Hanse drove to Minot last weekend. She said it was nice to make a contribution with our labor to help others.

People from several states have been in Minot for weeks helping families with their flood damaged homes.  Allen Ipsen of Cole Camp, Missouri says it’s been a pleasure to meet and help so many people in Minot.

The Lutheran Disaster Response agency is coordinating work recovery efforts in Minot along with several other agencies since the flood hit last June.
