City, N.D. – The Barnes County Water Resource District board declared an emergency earlier this month to install 3 culverts south of Rogers under state Highway one to alleviate water by two nearby lakes.

On Thursday, the board approved of Excavating Inc of Fargo to do the work, estimated cost, $299,000 the state will pick up the cost of the project being it affects a state highway. Under the agreement, Moore Engineering of West Fargo will be paid a fee of $22,000 dollars, that cost will be covered by the county.

Under the plan three 54 inch culverts will be installed under Highway one south of Rogers.
Board executive secretary Jamie Smith says work on the project will start next week and should take 2 weeks to complete.

Highway one will remain open to motorist but reduced to one lane in a small stretch of road south of Rogers during the project.
