Jamestown, N.D…The current discharges from the reservoirs will be reduced Friday to  800 CFS from the Jamestown Dam and 1000 CFS from the Pipestem Dam, for a combined release of 1800 CFS.

The City anticipates releases will be reduced on or about October 25th to 650 CFS from the Jamestown Dam and 850 CFS from the Pipestem Dam.  Very soon after that, City personnel will begin to remove the remaining pumps and “breech” the sandbag dikes.  This will allow any accumulation of water to drain away from behind the remaining dike areas.

City personnel have already begun to remove some pumps and to remove some sandbag dikes where adjacent soils are dry.  Due to extremely wet soil conditions, the City has decided to wait until freeze-up to remove the majority of the sandbag dikes in an effort to minimize damages to lawns and other property.  This will require us to wait until mid- to late-November or later, and may require us to utilize private Contractors to perform the work.

At this time, the City believes that floor drains should remain plugged until October 28th or later.

In the event that weather or sanitary sewer issues require a modification to this PSA, the City will notify the Public immediately via another Public Service Announcement.
