N.D.- A young man from Crete, North Dakota was named the 2011 American Star Farmer from the National FFA Organization at their annual meeting in Indianapolis last week .

21 year old Cole Vculek was one of four finalists across the county for the award, and for winning, received a plaque and $4,000.

 

21 year old Cole Vculek of Crete was recently named the 2011 American Star Farmer by the FFA.

Vculek’s growth in farming started in 2005, when he started on a two acre onion crop. Today, he has a 640 acre diversified farm near Crete.

“The experience I had gained through FFA has allowed me to be more confident, set goals and be willing to try new things.” Vculek told the FFA. “I have seen the importance of being involved and giving back to my community and organizations.”

Vculek was a member of Oakes/Sargent Central FFA in Oakes. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakes High School and the North Dakota State College of Scienece with a degree in Farm Management.
