Jamestown, N.D…The 2011-12 Jimmie mens basektball season tips off on Saturday at Jamestown Civic Center versus the University of Winnipeg.

Matt Murken returns for his second year as head coach, and he returns many of last years players. Jamestown won 21 of it’s 30 games last season, and four of the five starters are back off that team. The Jimmies are getting some early season hype, as the NAIA has ranked Jamestown 22nd in the preseason poll.

Returning from the starting line up are Senior Guard Byron Jones from Glenarden, Maryland, Senior B.J. Merten from Devils Lake, North Dakota, Senior Center Travis Burley, from Warrenton, Georgia, and Senior Brandon Robbins from Columbus, Montana.

Also returning are Sophomore Guard Mark Hoge from Ironton, Minnesota, and Junior Forward Jared Stutherland from Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Both played often off the bench for the Jimmies last year.

Coach Murken is eager to play a game, “We are excited to get going. It’s been a good Fall camp. We have a good mix of newcomers and returners, and they have been working hard. It’s time to play a game.”

Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. Saturday. The womens game will get started at 2:00 p.m..
