Jamestown, N.D…A quick start and a balanced attack led to a victory for the Jimmie womens basketball team in it’s home opener Thursday night over D-II Bemidji State 81-68 at Jamestown Civic Center.

Jamestown never trailed, as the Jimmie blew out to a 10-0 lead, and built the margin to as many as 28 in the first half, thanks to 65% shooting in the first 20 minutes. The Beavers would get no closer then 13 in the second half.

The Jimmies were led by Sophomore Casey Geffre with 12, followed by Sophomore Hannah Steele with 10, and Freshman Megan Pold with 10. Steele also led the team with five assists. Jamestown shot 10-20 from three point land, with Sophomore Carly Jensen bombing in three.

Jamestown improves to 3-0, and will get back on the Civic Center floor on Saturday versus the University of Winnipeg. This will be a doubleheader with the womens game  at 2:00 p.m., followed by the mens game at 4:00 p.m..
