CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The Viking football team tries for it’s eighth consecutive win Saturday when Mayville State comes calling at Shelly Ellig Field and Lokken Stadium.

The playoff season basically continues for the Vikings.  After their win over Jamestown College this past weekend, the Vikings remained in the 16th position in the NAIA football poll, a position that likely will not be good enough to get into the playoffs.  While there is still time to move up, a loss would end their hopes.

Valley City State dominated the Comets at Mayville 52-20 in the first meeting this season.  LeTheo Proctor (Sr., Anchorage, AK) caught five passes for 149 yards and four touchdowns, and ran in a fifth score.

Mayville State moved the ball well, racking up 335 yards of total offense.  Add to that their win over Dickinson State 15-14 last weekend, their first win over the Bluehawks since 1990, and the Comets are playing with a lot of confidence entering their second meeting with their arch-rival.

Gametime is set for 1:00 p.m., with pregame coverage slated for 12:30 p.m. on Dakota Country Radio.
