N.D.- Construction of the flood protection measures for the Oakes Golf Course is around 75 percent as of the end of October.

Course President Myron Jepson says irrigation lines will be placed either this week or next week, and things have progressed nicely through the last few weeks.

One of a series of dikes that have been raised to protect the Oakes golf course from flooding. This one is looking towards the 7th green.

Jepson says the goal is to have all the dikes high enough to reach an overall elevation at 1303 feet above sea level, which would be two feet higher than the water mark of 1301 feet which was set two years ago; the highest mark ever reached.

Should the work not be fully completed before the real cold sets in, Jepson says he’s confident that the water will be held back, and work could wrap up in the spring.
