N.D.- An annual fall tradition continues on Sunday, November 6, as the Oakes Ambulance hosts their soup and sandwich fundraiser at the ambulance facility.

Manager Mike Sandy says the event has been in place for more than 17 years, as Sandy came to Oakes in 1994. Monies raised from the free will donations will go towards purchasing equipment, and in particular a new ambulance.

The Oakes Ambulance is hosting their annual Soup/Sandwich Fundraiser on Sunday.

“We had an ambulance that had some engine trouble a couple of years back, and we had four at the time, and now we have three.” said Sandy. “Our primary rig is getting up there in age, around 60,000 miles and it’s around 12 years old, so we’re looking for something new.”

The going rate for a new ambulance nowadays is close with the sticker price of a Lamborghini. Sandy says a fairly well equipment model is around $175,000, and one with all the bells and whistles running close to $200,000.

Knephla soup, along with chili, vegetable, Wisconsin cheese, broccoli and chicken noodle soups along with ham and turkey sandwiches will be served starting at 10:30 until it’s gone in the garage of the building.
