Jamestown/Stutsman County Development Corporation will consider an investment of .75 million dollars for a railroad loop at the Spiritwood Energy Park about 10 miles east of Jamestown.

The JSDC board will make the decision on Wednesday during a special meeting. At Monday’s regular meeting, representatives from Great River Energy’s Spiritwood Station presented the proposal for the railroad loop.

The JSDC and Great River Energy would enter into an agreement as the Spiritwood Energy Park Association. Representatives say the railroad loop would make the location more attractive to potential businesses. Great River Energy would contribute 451 acres of land to the project, while the JSDC would contribute 100 acres. The JSDC and Great River Energy would lease land to businesses and share the profits.

Representatives say the loop would bring more jobs to the Jamestown area and provide a five percent return on investment for the JSDC. Great River Energy says the loop will help it attract partners to purchase the steam it generates.
