City, N.D. – Students from several Barnes County area schools worked hard to restock non-perishable food items and toiletries for the Barnes County Food Pantry during the second annual “Pack The Hac” event inside the Hi Liner Activity Center.

Thousands of non-perishable food items and toiletries were not only donated and collected by the students but by several area churches and citizens in Barnes County.

Barnes County Food Pantry Director Joanne Korf says the items should last until next spring and several of them will be used to make Holiday food baskets for less fortunate families in Barnes County.

Co-event coordinator Nicole Sufficool says the students and community set another record by collecting an additional 1000 square feet of more items compared to last years debut event in Valley City.

Area students helped load a Coca Cola semi truck which was used to deliver the items to the food pantry.

Students have fun for a good cause during the Pac the Hac event in Valley City.

Valley City Public Schools Student Council Representative Allison Baasch says Valley City 8th graders collected the most items with 922 followed by the seniors with 750, Juniors had 242, Freshman collected 192 while the Sophomores and the 7th graders collected 169 items from their respective classes.

The event was sponsored by Market Place Food & Drug, Ingstad Family Media, Coca Cola Company and The Valley City Times Record.
