City, N.D. – Students from several Barnes County area schools helped restock non-perishable food items and toiletries for the Barnes County Food Pantry during the second annual “Pac The Hac” event inside the Hi Liner Activity Center on November 16.

Co-event coordinator Nicole Sufficool thanked the community for their support of the event . She says a record 4,500 square feet of food items covered the gym floor or about 1000 square feet more than last year. She says some 210 totes were loaded on to a semi for the food pantry. Sufficool believes the event brought the community together to serve a common purposed to help the food pantry.

Barnes County Food Pantry Director Joanne Korf says with all these donations their supplies should last into next summer. Korf thanked the students and the community for their generous support.

And Valley City Public Schools Student Council Representative Allison Baasch says the 8th graders won a contest by collecting 922 items for the event followed by the seniors with 750, Juniors had 242, Freshman collected 192 while the Sophomores and the 7th graders collected 169 items from their respective classes.

The event was sponsored by Market Place Food & Drug, Ingstad Family Media, Coca Cola Company and the Valley City Times Record.
