– Jamestown-based nonprofit organization Farm Rescue has received a 0,000 dollar grant from Walmart Foundation.

Farm Rescue was voted as the recipient of the grant by Walmart associates after an online voting campaign through Walmart’s Associate Choice Program. The two organizations made the announcement Tuesday at Walmart in Jamestown. Jamestown Walmart store manager John Shafer says he’s very proud Farm Rescue was chosen as the North Dakota recipient of the nationwide grant program.

Farm Rescue founder and president Bill Gross says the $100,000 dollar grant is about one-third of Farm Rescue’s annual budget to help farm families, and is the largest single grant the organization has ever received. He says it will allow to organization to expand the number of farm families it helps each year.

The organization provides free planting and harvesting assistance to farm families that have experienced an unexpected major injury, illness or natural disaster.

Farm Rescue also announced the addition of Pizza Ranch as a $5,000 dollar sponsor Tuesday.
