City, N.D. – North Dakota legislator’s overwhelmingly passed a disaster relief bill to help repair flood damaged infrastructure in the state with a package worth 0 million during a special session this month.

Some $5 million in the bill will benefit Valley City in its effort toward permanent flood protection.

Valley City Flood Task force chairman Matt Pedersen said 32 properties will be included in the first phase of the buyout.

Pedersen also said the estimated removal cost would be between $730,000 to slightly more than $900,000.

Pedersen will have more details on the buyout plan for the city commission next month.

Pedersen praised Valley City state Senator Larry Robinson and the later Fargo state Senator Tom Fischer for their efforts in getting the earmarks for Valley City in the bill.
