N.D. (AP) – Four people are facing drug charges after
Bismarck police say they were selling drugs out of a home that was
also used as a day care. A woman who operated the unlicensed day
care is also charged with child neglect.
     
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A group of North Dakota and Minnesota
residents who oppose a project to divert the Red River is
ratcheting up its campaign. The group’s releasing a four-page flyer
today that urges residents to contact political leaders about the
matter. Supporters of the $2 billion plan say the diversion’s
needed to save Fargo and Moorhead, Minnesota from chronic flooding,
but opponents say there’s a cheaper plan that doesn’t affect as
many residents upstream of the north-flowing river.
    
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Bismarck’s forester says the city may have
to deal with flood-damaged trees for the next five years. Jackson
Bird says the number of trees affected by this past summer’s
Missouri River flooding might number in the thousands. Many of the
weakened trees may not survive the winter.
     
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) – A University of North Dakota geology
team leaves today to travel to Antarctica. The group will spend two
months on one of the continent’s most remote ice-free valleys as it
researches changes in the Antarctic landscape.
