CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–The pairings for the Barnes County Boys Basketball Tournament have been released.

Play in the tournament begins Tuesday, December 6th at the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse.  The second round will be Thursday, December 8th, and the final round will be Saturday, December 10th.

Maple Valley, the defending champions, are the top seed in the tournament.  The Raiders defeated the Valley City Hi-Liners in last year’s title game, en route to a 20-5 season.

Valley City received the number-two seed in the tournament, but there are stark differences between the top two seeds.  While Maple Valley did lose star post Jesse Behm to graduation, the balance of their team returns, while the Hi-Liners lost four of their starters from last year.

The Raiders draw #8 Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page in the opening game at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.  The game will be followed by fourth-seed Northern Cass and fifth-seed Litchville-Marion-Montpelier.

The Hi-Liners draw #7 Barnes County North in the third game of the day, and Griggs County Central, the tournament’s third-seed, meets sixth-seeded Enderlin to finish the day.
