FORKS (NewsDakota.com)- The Jimmie men’s basketball team went on the road to the Betty Englestad Sioux Center in Grand Forks to battle NCAA DI North Dakota. Jamestown. The Jimmies fell 74-66, but not before injecting fear into the Fighting Sioux with a late rally.

After the Sioux had built an 18-point lead midway though the second-half it appeared that the Jimmies had been beaten. Not so fast said Sophomore guard Mark Hoge who played his best basketball of the season during the rally. Hoge had 12 second-half points to help pull the Jimmies within four points late.

However, after Bryon Jones fouled out, with 11 points, and B.J. Mertens was called for a questionable carry the Sioux were able to put the game away at the line.

In the first half, the Jimmies turned it over 17 times and really cost themselves a chance to take a lead into half time. JC got within three points with just over two minutes remaining in the half, but the Sioux responded with a 10-0 run. It was really the only stretch of the game where Jamestown was outplayed.

Troy Huff and Patrick Mitchell led the way for North Dakota with 23 and 21 points respectively.

Brandon Robbins and Davon Thomas were the other two Jimmies in double-figures. Thomas also added 12 rebounds for a double-double.
