N.D.- The 2011-12 Oakes High School boys basketball season commences Saturday evening in Tower City, as the Tornadoes go up against Region I opponent Maple Valley.

The Tornadoes under the direction of Brandon Bata finished last season with a 2-17 record.

Bata, who returns for another year as the head coach of Oakes, was on The Coaches Carousel on The Metko Sports Show on KDDR-AM on Friday, and discussed the changes that took place during the offseason, the implementation of the shot clock to Class B basketball this season, and how the Tornadoes match up against the rest of the teams in District 1.
