Carrington boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season Friday night with a big 69-26 victory during their home opener against Barnes County North.
Taylor Skytland scored 16 points to lead the Cardinals (1-1) to the victory. Scott Engelhorn added 15 points. Jacoby Kramlich led the Bison (1-1) with 11 points in the loss.
In District 2 action, Central Cass blasted Maple Valley in an early season showdown of two of the district’s top teams. The Squirrels went up 21-6 after the first quarter and coasted to a 74-43 victory Friday night in Casselton.
Matt Zimmerman led the Squirrels with 19 points. Ty Smith led Maple Valley (1-1) with 19 points.
Elsewhere in District 2, Enderlin got 21 points from Coltin Huus as they defeated Kindred 52-45.
In District 5 action, Central Prairie picked up an early district victory with a 53-48 victory over Pingree/Buchanan-Kensal.
LaMoure improved its record to 2-0 Friday with a 58-44 win over Sargent Central. Brady Thielges led the Loboes with 15 points, and Jared Meiklejohn added 14 points.
Litchville-Marion-Montpelier dropped to 0-2 after suffering a 57-34 loss at Lisbon.
