– Jamestown and Bismarck Century hooked up in WDA hockey Friday night in the capital city, and the first-place Patriots escaped with a 3-1 victory.

After a scoreless first period, Century struck for a pair of goals in the first five minutes of period two. Blue Jay junior winger Jake Stilwell got Jamestown on the board when he scored his eighth goal of the season midway through the second. The Patriots scored an insurance goal midway through the third, and hung on for victory.

Blue Jay junior goalie Tygh Yatskis finished with 39 saves as the Jays were outshot 42-22.

“I am pleased with the effort,” head coach Matt Stockert said. “They’re a very good hockey team.”

Jamestown slips to 1-6 on the season, and 1-5 in the west region. Century improves to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

Next up for Jamestown is a trip to Devils Lake on Dec. 30. Stockert isn’t complaining about the two week layoff. “This two week break will help us prepare for the January grind,” he said.
