N.D. (AP) – The NCAA is asking a judge to throw out a federal lawsuit that was sparked by the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux nickname controversy. Members of the Spirit Lake and Standing Rock Sioux tribes want least million from the NCAA and a reversal of its policy that bans the use of American Indian imagery.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – The leader of the Fargo Catholic Diocese says the effects of Nazism, communism and atheism are stronger now than they were 40 years ago. Bishop Samuel Aquila  says when a government embraces atheism, religious rights are going to be violated. He also criticized the ACLU for removing “God from anything.”
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Authorities say a man in rural western North Dakota shot and killed a 38-pound mountain lion kitten that wandered into this home. The cat was on the man’s sofa when he returned to his house northwest of Grassy Butte on Wednesday.
Officials say the kitten killed four domestic cats.
