Annie “Kitty” Gentzkow, 94, of LaMoure, ND, passed away late Tuesday evening, January 3rd, 2012, at the St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, with her youngest daughter Lori Rae by her side.        

Carrie Annie Holub, the third daughter of Frank and Anna (Brekke) Holub was born at home on July 11, 1917, near Verona, North Dakota.  She went to school in Black Loam Township before attending Verona High School.  Kitty was united in marriage to Edward Gentzkow July 9, 1939, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Verona.  They made their home and farmed near the Twin Lakes and also ran the trucking business.  In 1945, Eddie, Kitty, and their first five children moved into LaMoure at which time Gentzkow Trucking became a full time business.  In October of 2005, Kitty became a resident of the St. Rose Care Center.

Kitty enjoyed bowling, playing cards, watching Twins games, and was an avid golfer.  Kitty was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church and active in the community.  She and Jane Potts were instrumental in starting a fund for the swimming pool in LaMoure. Kitty was an active Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, involved in Homemakers Club, Rainbow Advisor, and a Grand Matron in Eastern Star.

        She is survived by her nine children, Beverly (Ray) Sandness, Bismarck, ND, Helen (Curt) Oberlander, Tomah, WI, Donald (Mary Lou) Gentzkow and Rodney (Debra) Gentzkow all of LaMoure, Roger (Kris) Gentzkow, Bismarck, ND, Patty (Ken) Oelke, Killdeer, ND, Barbara (Earl) Wilhelm, Leonard, ND, Bonny (Carl) Broyan, Blaine, WA, and Lori (Welton) Cochrane, LaMoure, ND; a sister, Doris George, Plainfield, IL; sister-inlaw Verna Holub (Enderlin ND); 27 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.  Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, June 25, 1992, daughter and son-in-law Tami (W.Eric) Alford, brother Arthur, and sisters, Florence “Tootsie” Kindl, Frances “Babe” Clark, and Lois “Sister” Tesar.

        Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2012 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure, with funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, LaMoure.
