Davide, age 69 of Valley City, ND died Monday January 9th at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.  A Memorial Service will be conducted at 10:30 AM Friday, January 13, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City with Rev. Dan Forsberg officiating.  The family will be available to greet friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM.  Military Rites will be rendered by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, AmVets, North Dakota Honors Team, and the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps.  Burial will take place in Minnesota.

Robert Keith Davide was born November 8, 1942 to Joseph Albert and Gwendolyn Mildred (Cooper) Davide in Martinez, California.  Bob’s father was from Louisiana and his mother from Nebraska, thus becoming an early edition of a “war baby.”

After the war Bob’s family settled in Omaha, Nebraska where his mother’s family lived.  In 1953 his parents moved to Minnesota.  Bob attended 6th thru 8th grade in Minneapolis and his high school years in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, graduating in the top 83% of that schools famous class of 1960.

In August of 1960 Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  Bob protected a typewriter in a Naval Fighter Squadron aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal and at Oceana, Virginia.  Bob joyfully separated from the Navy September 9, 1963 and briefly attended Moorhead State College, Moorhead Minnesota.
