Emo, 92,  Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown, after a short illness.

Eunice Kolashefsky was born June 3, 1919, in Madison, SD, the daughter of Emil and Mathilda (Schulz) Kolashefsky.  She received all of her education in Madison, from kindergarten through two years of college.  She received an Advanced Diploma from General Beadle State Teachers College (Dakota State University) in 1939, and taught in rural schools in South Dakota, Minnesota, and North Dakota.

She married Howard James Southwick on November 28, 1940.  They lived in South Dakota Minnesota, and North Dakota.  They were divorced in 1958, and on June 15, 1968, she married Jerome C. Emo.  He died on October 4, 2002.  Eunice moved to North Dakota in 1954, and besides teaching, had been employed by Dakota Packing Company, North Dakota Heart Association, Midwest Credit Company, and North Dakota State Hospital.

She was a member of St. James Basilica, St. Elizabeth’s Circle, and a life member of the St. James Tabernacle Society.  She also belonged to the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary.  Eunice was an active bowler for many years.

She started volunteering at Jamestown Hospital in 1988, and took part in many volunteer activities.  She enjoyed bowling, reading, traveling, quilting, playing games, and doing puzzles.

Eunice is survived by two sons, Curtis C. (Jill Davis) Southwick, Rapid City, SD and Philip C. (Mary) Southwick, Lonsdale, MN; two daughters, Hazel L. Scott, Miles City, MT and Linda E. (Tom) Krumwiede, Velva, ND; son-in-law, Ronald J. Bartkowski; eleven grandchildren, Joan Bartkowski, Mark Bartkowski, Michelle Albrecht, David Krumwiede, Mindy (Rick) Sigvaldsen, Connie (John) Soderholm, Ty (Dannette) Krumwiede, Amy Gruber, Jennifer (Justin) Schmitz, Adam Southwick, and Laura (Nick Kris) Southwick; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome; daughter, Helen Bartkowski; three brothers; one sister; a grandson, Kevin Scott; and a son-in-law, Claude Scott.

Eucharist of Christian Burial – 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND with Father Al Bitz officiating.

Visitation – 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel.

Interment – 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the North Dakota Veteran Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
