N.D. (AP) – Federal workplace safety officials are
investigating two separate fatal accidents in western North
Dakota’s oil patch. A 38-year-old from South Dakota died on January
28th when a boiler exploded. And on Tuesday, a 28-year-old Texas
man died after he was pinned under a trenching machine.     
  
DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) – A Lithuanian men accused of possessing 50
pounds of marijuana in North Dakota was acquitted yesterday. And a
second man charged in the case voluntarily left the country. The
two were arrested in 2009.
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – State wildlife officials say there are a
record number of ducks and geese wintering in North Dakota. About
279,000 birds were recorded last month, including 190,000 Canada
geese and 88,000 mallard ducks. Biologists attribute the high
numbers to a lack of snow cover and lots of open water.
     
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) – A nonprofit organization is accepting
requests from farmers in the Dakotas who need spring planting help.
The North Dakota-based Farm Rescue group provides planting and
harvesting assistance to farm families who’ve gone through a major
illness, injury or disaster.
