memorial service for Earl Jensen, 88, Perham, Minnesota formerly of Luverne, North Dakota will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.  Burial will follow the next morning in the Luverne Cemetery.         

Earl Lloyd Jensen was born January 19, 1924 in Rogers, North Dakota and was the son of Jens Christian and Ellen (Sorensen) Jensen.  He attended the Logan school in Ashtabula Township until the 5th grade and then he attended and graduated from the Baldwin school (near Luverne) in 1942.  He then began farming in the Luverne area.         

Earl was united in marriage to Evelyn Jorgensen on August 29, 1943.  They farmed in the Luverne and Hope, North Dakota area until 1980 when they moved to Valley City.  In 2006, they moved into Bridgeview Estates, Valley City.  Evelyn died on April 17, 2008 and he moved to Perham to be near his son, Randy.          

Earl and Evelyn spent many happy winters in Florida making new friends and had gone on many cruises.  They always enjoyed the community dances.  They also built the bowling alley in Hope with three other couples.  Earl served on several boards which included Luverne Lutheran Church, Luverne Elevator, Luverne School, and township.  He also served as a director of the 1st State Bank of Hope for 23 years.          

He is survived by his sons, Dennis (Jo) Jensen, Hope, North Dakota and McAllen, Texas; Gary (Debby) Jensen,  Rapid City, South Dakota; Randy (Mary) Jensen, Perham; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Casey (Nicole) Jensen and their son, Christian of Pinson, Alabama; Caron Swenson, and her sons, Gunnar and Slayton, Rapid City; Abby (Justin) Ward and their son, Lane of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; Megan (Danny) White, Woodbury, Minnesota;  Cassie (Kasey) Kurtz and their daughter, Ally of Perham; Kelby Jensen, Perham.  Several nieces also survive.                             

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leon and three sisters, Melva Lee, Darlene Ihry and Jean Jensen, an infant.
