O. Bieri, 78, of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the comfort of his own home.

Russel was born May 11, 1933 in Benson County, the son of Oral and Florence (Hansen) Bieri of Oberon.  Russel grew up and received an education in Oberon, ND.  He would go on to attend North Dakota State University and Kansas State University Veterinary School earning a degree in veterinary medicine. While attending North Dakota State University, Russel met and married Aloyth “Lollie” Austin in Mott, ND on June 17, 1956.  They would be blessed with four children.  In June of 1961, Russel began his career in Jamestown, ND with Dr. James Vagneur at Southwood Veterinary Clinic.  He would work there until his retirement.

Throughout his life, Russel enjoyed many hobbies.  They included gardening, golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, and attending numerous sporting events.  He was an avid Blue Jay and Bison football fan.

Russel was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and belonged to the American Veterinary Medical Association.  He helped out with Boy Scouts and 4-H for several years.

Russel is survived by his wife, Aloyth “Lollie” Bieri, Jamestown; four children, Jody Bieri, Mandan, ND, Julie (Keith) Grizzle, Wright, WY, Scot (Gari Jo) Bieri, Cloquet, MN, Daron (Jolyn) Bieri, Jamestown; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Katie, Meghan, Avery, Rand, Austin, Phoebe, and Sydney; five great grandchildren, Christian, Lucas, Caleb, Thomas, and Violet.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara Bieri Cox; and step-mother, Drusilla Elmgren Bieri.

Funeral Service:  1:30 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m., – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown and an hour before each service at the church.

Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.

Memorials: May be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown or towards a N.D. Veterinarian Student Scholarship.
