(NewsDakota.com) – The Frontier Village Association approached the Jamestown Legal and Finance Committee Wednesday seeking funding for its part-time manager position after the money was not granted by the Buffalo City Tourism Foundation last week.

The Tourism Foundation is the main source of funding for the FVA. The FVA had requested about $34,000 in grants for summer staffing from the Foundation. They were granted the money needed for other workers, but were not granted about $8,500 needed for their manager position, currently held by Tina Busche.

The Tourism Foundation had issued a vote of no confidence in the FVA board and its manager back in December, and recently conducted a forensic accounting report of the Frontier Village Association. That report revealed a moderate risk of fraud.

Frontier Village Association president Charlie Tanata asked the city committee Wednesday for money to fund the manager position. Mayor Katie Andersen asked city attorney Ken Dalsted to look into what options the city council has in the issue. A special council meeting could be held to deal with the issue.
