(NewsDakota.com) – Health students at Jamestown High School responded to a mock bus crash and fought fires today as part of a Teen Community Emergency Response Team (Teen CERT) disaster drill exercise.

About 115 students took part in the event. Students participating in the class have learned how to respond and take care of themselves and others in the event of a disaster.

Thursday morning students used fire extinguishers to put out small fires, and responded to a mock bus crash in the Jamestown High School parking lot.

This is the second year that the high school and Stutsman County Emergency Management have teamed up to offer the class, which teaches students on emergency preparedness, fire safety, medical triage, disaster medical, search and rescue, disaster psychology, school safety and terrorism.
