Colby, 74, of Milnor, ND, passed away May 20, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge, MN.
Twila was born in the family home at DeLamere, North Dakota, on May 11, 1938 to H. Hugo and Tena (Benrud) Snellman. She graduated from DeLamere High School in 1956 and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. She was united in marriage to Richard Colby on June 12, 1958 in the DeLamere Lutheran Church. They made their home in DeLamere until 1999, when they moved to Milnor. Twila worked for Pat Hoiland in DeLamere. She also enjoyed working for Eugene and Jean Holmgren at the Coast to Coast Store in Milnor, where she worked for 25 years before retiring.
Twila was Sunday School Superintendent and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the DeLamere Lutheran Ladies Aid. Twila was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandsons whenever she could. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing 2nd base for the DeLamere Demons, and shoes.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; two sons, Timothy (Joni) Colby, Moorhead, MN and James (Gail) Colby, Detroit Lakes, MN; and five grandsons, Blake, Taylor, Josh, Kyle, and Aaron. Twila was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Hugh, and two sisters, Adaline and Violet.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Milnor Lutheran Church, Milnor, ND. Her funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Milnor Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near DeLamere.
