N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison on illegal weapons charges.

David Werkhoven, of Jamestown, was charged in federal court with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and violation of supervised release. He pleaded guilty in April.

Authorities say police discovered eight rounds of ammunition in Werkhoven’s garage during a January search of his residence. The 52-year-old Werkhoven was prohibited from possessing guns or ammunition because of earlier felony convictions.  U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson sentenced Werkhoven to 54 months in prison.
