(NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown High School athletics and the Jamestown Regional Medical Center have teamed up for the 2012 sports season.

The two groups announced Tuesday that JRMC will be the official sports medicine team for the Blue Jays. JRMC Public Relations Coordinator Michelle Kunrath says through the agreement, JRMC will hire a new athletic trainer will be hired whose main job is to be based at Jamestown High School and handle Blue Jay athletics.

Kunrath says JRMC and the School District are sharing in the cost of hiring the athletic trainer.

The trainer will be on hand during games and practices, and will also help with prevention of injuries and rehabilitation of injuries. JRMC says all Blue Jay athletes will have access to sports medicine services at JRMC, including an orthopedic surgeon and athletic trainer.

“This is a great opportunity for us to provide education, training and care for athletes in our community,” JRMC CEO Todd Hudspeth said in the release. “Having an athletic trainer at Jamestown High School will allow athletes to develop a one-on-one relationship with the trainer leading to better care and successful teams.”
