(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes City Council held their regular monthly meeting last week.

Among the noteworthy aspects was a first reading of a sales tax request from the Oakes Police Department for $4,585 to upgrade the communication equipment in vehicles.

James Valley Grain was given a building permit to expand their shop area. The addition is set to be built over existing sewer lines, and the owners of the site were notified of the risks and responsibilities before the permit was approved.

The City has yet to receive new recycling containers, and details about the city’s new garbage route will be announced later this week.
