(NewsDakota.com) – It’s budget time in Jamestown and Stutsman County.

The Stutsman County Commission began discussions Tuesday regarding the 2013 budget. Discussions with departments will continue during the next Commission meeting Sept. 4.

County auditor Casey Bradley says department heads have been working on budget information since July. He says the county’s budget needs to be officially adopted by the Commission’s first meeting in October.

“It could go real quick and easy, or it could go real in depth,” Bradley said.

Last week, the city of Jamestown began 2013 budget discussions with department heads. City budget discussions continue with a special Budget Committee meeting Monday, Aug. 27 at 3 p.m.

City administrator Jeff Fuchs says the city budget needs to be certified to the county by Oct. 10. He said usually about the middle of September is when the Budget Committee makes the majority of the major decisions and wraps up most budget discussions.
