N.D. (Prairie Public News) – We knew it would be hotly contested, but even though Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp appears to have won that race, her opponent, Congressman Rick Berg, is not conceding.

Unofficial results show Heitkamp with about a 3,000 vote margin in her favor and she spoke to her supporters early this morning declaring victory.

Berg spokesman Chris Van Guilder says Berg is not ready to throw in the towel as the campaign wants to wait until the votes are canvassed.

If the results hold, Berg could demand a recount.
