N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department says no injury accidents were reported in the state during this year’s deer gun hunting season.

Last year there were five hunting-related incidents reported, with two fatalities.

Game and Fish hunter education coordinator Zach Peterson tells KXMB-TV that more advertisements about safety and less hunting pressure were big reasons for the drop in the number of accidents.  Because of a decline in the deer population only about 65,000 licenses were made available, 40 percent fewer than last year.

The season lasted about two weeks. It opened Nov. 9 and closed on Sunday.
