Pam Hanson, 58, of Sheyenne, ND, died Monday, Dec 3rd, 2012 at Carrington Health Center in Carrington, ND, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
 
Pamela Jean Lewis was born April 20, 1954, to Clayton and Marian (Kruger) Lewis in New Rockford, ND.  She was raised in the Sheyenne area, graduating from Sheyenne High School with the class of 1972.  Pam was united in marriage to James Hanson on August 25th, 1973, at Grace Lutheran Church, Sheyenne.   She helped her mom in the Corner Café and her dad with horse shows at the family arena in Sheyenne.  She also ran a daycare out of her home until ill health forced her to retire.  Pam was a 2nd mother to many children and her house was never empty. 
 
Pam began her singing career as a member of the Sheyenne Class of 1972 Sextet.  She had a beautiful voice, singing for weddings, in Sunday School and other local events. 
 
Despite her limitations, Pam remained at home with the help of her husband, family and caregivers.  She enjoyed regular Scrabble games with her mother.  With all of her challenges, her greatest enjoyment was when her family gathered around her.  Pam never complained and always greeted everyone with a smile. 
 
Pam is survived by her husband Jim; 3 children; Sarah (Corey) O’Connell, Minnewaukan, Janet (James) Thornton, Valley City, Ryan (Liz) Hanson, Minnewaukan; 7 grandchildren: Brett, Seth and Shelby O’Connell, Devyn and Abbey Thornton, and Cailee and Olivia Hanson;  her mother Marian Lewis, Sheyenne; 4 siblings, Lynn Lewis, Mandan, John Lewis, Karlsruhe, David (June) Lewis, Sheyenne, Heidi (Corey) Schieffer, Wibaux, MT; 3  brothers-in–law, Gary Barko,  Sheyenne; Aaron Woyen, Bismarck, and Paul (Audrey Eads) Hanson, Sheyenne; also numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. 

She was preceded in death by her father, brother-in-law, Larry Barko, sister-in-laws; Norma Lewis and Jane (Hanson) Woyen; and mother and father-in-law Henry and Olivia (Beck) Hanson.
