(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes Public Schools will be hosting a public meeting Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the High School’s study hall to consider increasing the district’s property tax levy.

Citizens will be allowed to present oral or written comments regarding the property tax levy increase of 20.5%. Public school patrons will not experience an increase of 20.5% in their taxes. The general fund tax levy is rising as a result of the increase of the district’s taxable land valuation.

The district will be lowering the general fund levy by around 34.06 mills.
