 – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has announced its fifth edition of the Women’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly honor Tuesday. Sara Geisler of Valley City State (N.D.) was selected as Field Athlete-of-the-Week, while Abby Honeyman of Dickinson State (N.D.) was named as Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

North Star Athletic Association Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Sara Geisler – Valley City State (N.D.) – Freshman – Grand Rapids, Minn. – Valley City State’s (N.D.) Geisler had two first-place finishes at the NCAA Division II meet, the Northern State (S.D.) Twilight Meet. She recorded the top javelin throw in the NAIA since 2014 with a measurement of 49.83 meters (163 feet, 6 inches). Her javelin throw is also a new VCSU school record, a new NSAA conference record, a meet record and facility record at Northern State. Geisler also captured the women’s shot put, throwing 12.21 meters (40 feet, 0.75 inches). 

North Star Athletic Association Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Abby Honeyman – Dickinson State (N.D.) – Sophomore – Regent, N.D. – Honeyman of Dickinson State (N.D.) won the 100-meter hurdles with the NAIA National ‘B’ Qualifying Standard at the Northern State (S.D.) Twilight Meet. She currently holds the fastest time in the event within the North Star. Honeyman also was a member of the Blue Hawks’ 4 x 100-meter relay team that placed third with a time of 50.52 seconds.
