(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School basketball teams each had a loss Thursday night at home.

In the girls game, LaMoure-Litchville/Marion’s Anna Holen scored 34 points and hit six three pointers as the Loboes tooped the Tornadoes 70-55. Oakes (7-8, 0-5 Class B District 5) had an 8-4 lead early in the first quarter, but the Loboes (11-5, 3-2) then went on a 15-2 run to end the quarter, and never looked back. Oakes had a team high 17 points from Nicole Schmitz.

The boys of Oakes rallied several times against Sargent Cental, including trailing by two in the final seconds, but the Cadets were able to escape with a 61-58 victory. Sargent Central (3-7) had three players in double figures, lead by Matthew Colemer with 17. Oakes (1-10) was lead by Tyler Voightman with 16 points.

The Tornadoes host a doubleheader against Medina-Pingree/Buchanan Saturday afternoon.
