N.D. (UJ) – Hanna Dunnigan (SR/Regina, SK) and Brittany Rheault (JR/West Fargo, ND) each pitched two-hit shutouts, and the Jimmie softball team came up with 17 hits in 6-0 and 8-0 wins over Mayville State University Monday.

The doubleheader was played in Wahpeton as a makeup of Sunday’s postponed doubleheader, originally scheduled in Jamestown. 

Jamestown scored two runs in each of the third, fourth, and sixth innings on the way to a 6-0 opening game win.

Kylie Macaig (SO/Airdrie, AB) was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and Tifani Schorzman (JR/Coeur d’Alene, ID) had a double and two RBI. Shaye Kemball and Lauren Coronado recorded the Comets’ hits.

Kemball took the loss, giving up five earned runs on eight hits. She walked five and struck out five. Dunnigan struck out 11 and walked four in the seven-inning complete game win.

Emma Keller (JR/Poulsbo, WA) homered in game two to give the Jimmies a 1-0 lead. UJ scored two in the second and five in the third to break the game open. The game was called after five innings due to the eight-run rule.

Schorzman was 2-for-3 win a pair of RBI. Hanna Dunnigan hit a bases-loaded triple to drive in three runs, and Macaig, Miriah Yoder (SO/Devils Lake, ND), and Kelly Halverson (SO/Surrey, BC) also doubled. Jolene Ruiz doubled for the Comets and Bailey Nordquist recorded the other hit for Mayville.

Brittany Rheault struck out three and walked three in her five innings of work. Haley Kravetz allowed eight runs on six hits over 2 1/3 innings and was the losing pitcher. 

Jamestown (32-18, 17-7 NSAA) plays a home-and-home series with Valley City State while the Comets (17-23, 11-13) close out the regular season with a weekend series against Presentation.
